I needed to replace a very good part-time job that I had held since my 3rd year in high school with another source of income. I saw an opportunity to sell my father's popular smoked pork sausage at the St. Catharines market as customers in that area had no other source at that time except to come and pick up the sausage in Breslau - an hour and a half away. I carefully stencilled a hand-painted sign to put on top of my father's truck when I set up at the St. Catharines market and with help from a few influential customers there who adopted my cause, I had the start of Dettweiler's Sausage. [to be continued in future blogs]
